VC Funding for Health IT Grows in 2016, Surpasses $5 Billion

After a slight drop from 2014 to 2015, VC funding in healthcare IT grew 9% in 2016 to surpass the $5 billion mark for the first time.

The most funding in 2016 went to the following technology categories:

  1. Mobile Apps — $1.3 billion
  2. Wearable Sensors — $592 million
  3. Data Analytics — $574 million
  4. Telemedicine — $528 million
  5. Mobile Wireless — $228 million
  6. Wellness — $218 million
