The last of our 5 part Search Marketing Integration blog series will discuss best practices for diversifying your content marketing strategy by using visual communications.
Google is giving preference in the organic search rankings to pages with visual content. In some cases, the SERPs even contain a direct link to the visual itself. For example, we have seen very successful YouTube videos that – once we optimize them for SEO – have ended up with page one rankings, at times outranking competitors’ websites! This is proof that Google likes to see visual content, and will serve it in the SERPs.
Adding high quality, informational videos to your website will not only help to clarify your product or positioning to visitors, but can impact your search rankings as well. Google has reported that B2B decision makers are increasingly consulting online videos for information during the buying process. Engaging and informative video marketing can effectively speak to decision makers at key phases of the sales funnel.
Perhaps the most profound impact of visual content is its ability to establish your company as an industry thought leader. Compelling and persuasive content is key to an effective content marketing strategy. Blogging is no longer enough. Expand your content strategy by creating videos, white papers, case studies, infographics, SlideShare presentations, and more. Distribute to your social media channels as well. Once your content is share-worthy, make it easily shareable by including social sharing buttons.
The sooner you start your content marketing strategy, the larger advantage you will have over your competitors who haven’t started yet.
