Which newswire service is best for business press release distribution?
Like many things in marketing, it depends on many factors. This post includes our health tech PR agency’s review of the top B2B press release newswire services and the best use for each.
Note: All pricing in this post reflects our experiences with each service. Pricing depends on options such as geographic distribution, multimedia, and other add-ons.
Also, buying a package is the most cost-effective option if you plan to send out more than a few press releases in the next year.
Business Wire
Business Wire is the Clarity Quest preferred press release wire service vendor for essential B2B company news. Their quality and distribution network is top-notch. We have successfully used Business Wire for domestic and extensive international distribution. Their account reps are friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive.
PR Newswire
When we first started offering public relations services in the early 2000s, PR Newswire was THE wire service and the only one we used. It was the oldest, largest, and most expensive in the market. After they merged with Cision in 2016, they became a PR powerhouse. However, they are extremely pricey and it’s easy to get locked into contracts that go unused.
We generally recommend this service for major company announcements.
PRWeb
PRWeb, also now owned by Cision, is an online distribution service known for being user- and budget-friendly. Its distribution network includes journalists and bloggers. Unlike most other vendors, PRWeb has no word limit and does not charge extra for word counts over 400. It also offers an unlimited number of images and multimedia assets.
However, PRWeb is not a true wire distribution service in that it’s an online release distribution offering. We recommend this service primarily for startups or companies with a limited budget.
Accesswire
Accesswire is new to the scene and fast becoming a strong competitor. They offer global, national, and regional services, plus significant social engagement, targeting, and analytics data. With flexible pay-as-you-go packages starting as low as $175 USD per release (online only), they are worth considering, especially if you only plan to send out a release once or twice a year.
