How to Create a Google+ Business Page

As the social media world continues to expand, it is becoming essential for businesses to utilize the value of Google+ for their online branding strategy. Creating a Google+ business page will create a more interactive relationship between you and your customers. The following steps offer a simple, instructive guide to help your business create an outstanding Google+ profile that will enhance its overall marketing campaign.

 

Step 1: The Personal Page

In order to create a page for your business, you must first have a Google+ personal page. From that, you can click the ‘Create a Google+ page’ link in the right hand sidebar when logged into your personal page.

 

Step 2: Add Detailed Information

Once you begin to create your business’s Google+ profile, you will be able to select the type of company you are creating a page for in order to help potential clientele search for you. Google+ gives you a variety of options to customize you business profile with detailed information about your company. Begin with adding basic information about your business. When prompted to add a photograph, make sure it is an easily recognizable image that matches icons used on your website and other social media pages. Creating brand continuity is an essential part of your online marketing strategy. You are able to enter more photographs later on, which can be a great way to make consumers develop a more personal connection to the brand. Google+ also has an ‘introduction’ section where businesses can include a range of information about their company’s offerings, values, and mission statement. The first sentences or so of the introduction will appear in Google+ search results, so make certain it reflects exactly what you want people to know about your company. Take advantage of this section by providing a short, but comprehensive overview of your company that matches the verbage used on your website. Include links with anchor texts to improve your SEO. Also make sure to add all necessary contact information and any links that will direct viewers to learn more about your company (website, social media profiles, blog, etc).

 

Step 3: Get followers

To add people to your circles on Google+, you need to wait until they follow you. Publish the icon linking to your Google+ business page on your Google+ personal page, website, and social media profiles. If you publish buzz-worthy content on a daily basis, more people will follow you. Once you have followers, organize them into circles based on their relationship to your company. Circles are a great way to send targeted messages to followers. Also consider adding the Google+1 button on your website and blog to help users recommend your website to their Google+ followers.

 

Step 4: Publish shareable content

The key to a successful Google+ page is in its content. Make this content similar to your Tweets by providing a range of content about company news, industry updates and advice, interesting articles followers will care about, etc. Add pictures and links in all updates to make them more enticing for followers to read. Also publish updates daily, in a timely manner, and make them available to the Public so current followers and those who have not connected with you yet will be interested in your account, and in turn, your business.
