Engage Customers In-Stores with Shopkick

By December 6, 2015May 24th, 2019No Comments

Shopkick is an app used by approximately 15 million shoppers. This app uses beacons for location-based technology and currency rewards to encourage customers to participate actively in their shopping experiences. This app allows marketers to converse with customers on a personal level from the moment they walk into a store.

Customers can receive currency rewards called “kicks” for:

  • Walking into a store
  • Scanning products
  • Trying on clothing
  • Making purchases

Once shoppers collect kicks, they can redeem the app currency for a variety of gift cards. Shopkick has provided consumers with approximately $63,280,000 total in redeemed gift cards and rewards.

According to Margot Langsdorf, VP Client Services at Shopkick, a recent study conducted with American Eagle revealed that when the retailer provided customers small rewards for trying on clothing, it doubled the amount of customers who practiced this behavior. Providing these incentives is beneficial for retailers overall because customers who try on clothing are significantly more likely to make purchases.
